Part 1: Show Off Your Testnet Skills
Part 1 of the STX Mining Challenge will be run on the Krypton infrastructure of the Stacks 2.0 testnet. Krypton uses a private Bitcoin regtest, instead of the public Bitcoin testnet. This makes it easier for new STX Miners to get up and running, and learn the basics of what mining Stacks is all about. Participants who already have mining experience will also be able to try out more advanced tools, such as the open source Alpha Mining Bot we recently released at Daemon Technologies. Dates:
December 15, 2020 - January 4, 2021 Prize Pool:
200,000 STX tokens Part 2: Onboard for Mainnet
The second part of the STX Mining Challenge will prepare you for the mainnet launch of Stacks 2.0. Rather than a full a contest, Daemon Technologies will reward the first miners who successfully complete onboarding for the Stacks 2.0 mainnet, and help trigger the upgrade. More information to come soon! Dates (subject to change):
TBD Prize Pool:
Part 3: This Time It's for Real
The third part of the STX Mining Challenge will no longer be on testnet, but on the Stacks 2.0 mainnet itself. Part 3 begins as soon as the Stacks 2.0 mainnet launches and the first block is mined. The challenge will last for the tentatively the first month of the network. During this time miners will be able to receive rewards above and beyond the normal STX block reward and transaction fee incentives of the network.
TBA Prize Pool:
~800,000 STX tokens
Daemon is hyper focused on the upcoming Stacks 2.0 mainnet launch and ensuring the network is secured by STX Miners. Because Independent miners will be the ones to launch the network, this series of challenges will be the perfect way to prepare to capitalize on the mainnet as soon as it's launched. Prospective miners will be able to learn the final system beforehand, and celebrate their key role in enabling the user-owned internet on Bitcoin.
